ABOUT
Brooke has had a passion for sports since the age of 5 when she started playing youth soccer. From children’s rec to high school athletics to college intramural sports, her love for the community and competition aspect of sport only grew. Alongside sports, Brooke learned she also had a passion for art when she realized it wasn’t all finger painting and still life drawing.
Playing around on high school projects, she discovered a love for digital art that brought her to study Graphic Design at East Carolina University. Inspired by working as a marketing student in ECU’s Campus Recreation & Wellness department, Brooke found the perfect combination of creativity, strategy, and play in her role as Coordinator of Marketing for Duke Recreation & Physical Education, where she oversaw communication and marketing efforts. She worked to provide a “central hub” that tied the department’s work together to provide Duke students with a chance to take a break, connect, and be active. She continued her desire to learn and grow by completing her Master’s in Strategic Communication from the University of Iowa while continuing her work at Duke.
Brooke now serves as Assistant Director of Communication for NC State's New Student Programs, where she leverages her experience and education to help prepare new students as they embark on their next journey. Through email communication, website strategy, design work, and social media content, she aims to help first-year and transfer students in their transition to NC State. Overall, Brooke understands and appreciates the importance of having a united voice, maintaining a brand, and communicating effectively, while also maintaining a sense of creativity and fun.
